EL TECOLOTE (SAN FRANCISCO) -- I woke up in the recovery room. Next to me sat a Filipina nurse. She asked me how I felt and told me where I was. Within a minute (or so I felt) we were having a nice conversation. I said that I was a retired professor at San Francisco State. She smiled and shared that her daughter was a dancer and her son was also an artist. “He could be really good! You should see his graffiti work! Whatever they choose is fine with me! As long as they are happy!”
