The Liberal and Creative Arts Building is a state-of-the-art, 75,000-square-foot media production and classroom facility that will bring San Francisco State University students to the next generation of innovation and excellence in media arts. Located on Holloway Avenue next to the West Campus Green and Humanities Building, it is under construction and scheduled to open for classes in spring 2021.
The teaching, research and production complex, designed by award-winning architect Mark Cavagnero, will be LEED Gold-certified. Tailor-made for those who want to be competitive and career ready for the ever-changing media and entertainment industry, the four-story structure features a professional television newsroom, the student-run radio station KSFS, an audio recording studio, media presentation room and classrooms. Students will have access to state-of-the-art technology that will enable them to collaborate in new ways, blend interactive media and stream their work worldwide instantly.
The Liberal and Creative Arts Building will also include administrative offices for the Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts Department (BECA) and the College of Liberal & Creative Arts dean’s staff.
