LAKE COUNTY RECORD-BEE -- Melton said he believes his music and his political career have always been intertwined. He said he attended San Francisco State because he always had intentions to became a lawyer, but was carried away with what was going on politically in the ’60s in Northern California.
“They have always been connected,” he said, adding that he has played for Bernie Sanders during his campaign for the presidency. Melton added that he believes music’s greatest power is its ability to bring people together. “That’s what music is all about,” he said, citing the recent controversy over Taylor Swift endorsing a Democrat in the state of Tennessee for the upcoming midterm elections as proof that music and politics are always intersecting.
