SAN FRANCISCO EXAMINER -- The donation of $25 million came from SFSU alumni George and Judy Marcus after a recent $1.8 million athletics scholarship fund from the couple, according to the University.

The George and Judy Marcus Funds for Excellence in the Liberal Arts will support students and faculty in liberal and creative arts programs at the school and make enhancements in its Department of Creative Writing and the School of Cinema.

“We are extremely grateful for the Marcuses’ generosity and ongoing service and commitment to San Francisco State University,” school president Leslie Wong said in a statement. “Their steadfast support has had a profound impact on our students, faculty, staff and programs.”
