SAN FRANCISCO BUSINESS TIMES -- The gift is part of San Francisco State’s $150 million “Bold. Thinking” capital campaign, the public university’s first large fundraising program.

The Marcuses’ latest gift will support student and faculty research across the college as well as four endowed chairs and “enhancements” to the Creative Writing and Cinema programs that count among their graduates the best-selling authors Anne Rice and Po Bronson, Pulitzer Prize winners Philip Schultz and Rae Armantrout, playwright Marcus Gardley and Academy Award winners such as Jonas Rivera, a producer at Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville, and sound editor Ethan Van der Ryn.

“San Francisco State helped define our future and it is our hope that this gift will do the same for students and faculty in the College of Liberal & Creative Arts now and for many years to come,” Judy Marcus, who graduated from the University with a bachelor’s degree in recreation, said in a statement.
