TAMPA BAY TIMES -- The Trump administration had in fact promised exceptions, but only in certain circumstances. Applicants would have to show they would suffer “undue hardship” outside of the United States — and that their entry would be “in the national interest.”
The conditions are intangible and difficult to prove, said Persis Karim, who directs the Center for Iranian Diaspora Studies at San Francisco State University.
