Tuesday, July 28, 2020

DIGITAL JOURNAL -- Inspired by the #SayHerName movement, and as a coordinated response to continued violence and systematic oppression against Black, Indigenous, women and people of color (BIPOC), Vest has decided to assemble a team of former Black Panther Party members and Oakland artists to install a 2,000-square-foot mural on the face of her Oakland, California, home.

Vest is leading the first-ever public art installation honoring the Black Panther Party and the women that made it possible. She holds two bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Black Studies, Women’s Studies and multicultural education from San Francisco State University and the University of San Francisco.
