Professor Gilligan Competes on 'Jeopardy!'

SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS -- “Jeopardy!” (7 p.m., KGO-TV; ABC 7 in the Bay Area): Tears will undoubtedly be shed among devoted fans of the popular game show as beloved host Alex Trebek appears in his final episode. Trebek died on November 8, following a public battle with pancreatic cancer. Tonight’s episode was taped in late October. Producers have said the show will include “a special tribute to the life and work of the man who captained America’s favorite quiz show with skill, style and sophistication for 36-plus years.” Among tonight’s contestants are two Bay Area residents — returning champion Yoshie Hill, an executive assistant from Colma, and James Gilligan, an assistant English professor at San Francisco State University.
