Professor Shimizu Appears on CBC to Discuss Racist, Sexist Tropes of Asian Women in Entertainment

CANADIAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION -- Film scholar and filmmaker Celine Parreñas Shimizu explains how racist tropes in the entertainment industry contribute to the hyper-sexualization of Asian women.

“These women are literally in sexual service of white men in the movies,” said Shimizu, professor and director of the School of Cinema at San Francisco State University.
