Professor Dollinger Lauds New Survey on Jews of Color in America

RELIGION NEWS -- But Marc Dollinger, a history professor at San Francisco State University who is white and studies Jews and race, said the report provides a valuable and much-needed historical corrective.

“So much of our understanding of American Jewish life centers white Jews and the white Jewish experience,” Dollinger said. “When Jews of color are the ones to get to pick the questions, answer the questions and publish them, it is a reframing of our understanding of the American Jewish experience. It’s historic.”
