Alumna Chikako Suzuki picked up her first Emmy Award — on her first nomination — at the Creative Arts ceremony held August 16 in Los Angeles. She was recognized for her art direction on the Showtime comedy House of Lies.
Suzuki (B.A., Drama, ’01) was nominated in the Outstanding Art Direction for a Contemporary Program with colleagues Ray Yamagata and Tim Stepeck. They defeated Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory, Silicon Valley and Veep.
Suzuki is also working on set design for the new seasons of ABC’s Scandal and HBO’s The Newsroom. In 2012 she was nominated for an Excellence in Production Design Award in Art Directors Guild.
This first ceremony of the 66th Emmy Awards honored guest performers on television dramas and comedy series, as well as the many talented artists and craftspeople behind the scenes to create television excellence.
