INTERNATIONAL MEETINGS REVIEW AND GLOBAL TRAVEL INDUSTRY NEWS -- Here’s a good name to know when planning events in California: The San Francisco Travel Association has appointed Antonette Eckert to the position of director, international tourism-Asia/Pacific. In her new role, Eckert will manage ongoing tourism sales programs in the Asia/Pacific region, including China, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, India and Southeast Asia. She will also help develop the long-term strategic vision of tourism relative to the Asia/Pacific market, including identifying new markets, expanding the client base, increasing results from new and existing tour operators and enhancing the relationship with San Francisco International Airport. She holds a Master’s degree in travel and tourism management from the New York University Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism and Sports Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Radio and Television from San Francisco State University.
