Professor Kovacs: Hungarian Film Festival at SF State Important for Students, University

Wednesday, December 10, 2014

DUNA TV -- Between November 14 and 22 in Coppola Theatre, the Cinema Department and the California European Cultural Initiative showed a selection of contemporary Hungarian features, documentaries, short films and animation. Cinema Professor and Chair Steven Kovacs helped coordinate the festival.

“There is a palpable excitement among the students because they are watching brand new films,“ Kovacs said, translated from Hungarian. “It’s true that some of them don't even know where Hungary is. But they are seeing films that were just finished, presented by their directors, writers, actors and producers.

“I am not the only one who feels great watching these films. This is very important for the students, very important for the university and very important for the entire San Francisco moviegoing public.”
