Manfred Flügge is the author of Gesprungene Liebe. Die wahre Geschichte zu Jules et Jim (a.k.a. Le Tourbillon de L’amour) — about the real people Helen and Franz Hessel, whose lives became immortalized in Henri-Pierre Roche’s novel Jules et Jim in 1953. François Truffaut happened on a copy of the novel in one of the open air stalls of Paris. Screenplay and film soon followed.
François Truffaut’s daughter Laura may make a guest appearance in class.
