SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE -- Jason McDaniel, an assistant professor of Political Science at San Francisco State University, said a big change since 2000 is the increase in Asian voter turnout. Back then, about 20 percent of registered Asian voters turned out, compared with about 50 percent now, he said. But again, what that means is unclear. Lee is very popular among Chinese voters, but Peskin has the backing of Chinatown power broker Rose Pak. If she decides to go full throttle in recruiting campaign volunteers and donors in Chinatown, that could be big for Peskin.
