YOUR ERIE -- Johnny Mathis performed in front of a full house pleasing the crowd with his hits and folk songs. It’s interesting that this music icon didn't start out as a performer, in 1954, Mathis enrolled at San Francisco State College with the intention of being an English and physical education teacher. Thankfully, his career turned to music and he’s recorded dozens of hits since the late 1950s. Johnny has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame three times so far for “Chances Are,” “Misty” and “It’s Not For Me To Say.” But most impressive of all is his 2003 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
