A riotous musical about San Francisco’s scandalous past, told through the lens of Mark Twain, features three Drama alums.
Keith Carames (B.A., ’00) is the director of The Barbary Coast Revue, performed Thursday evenings at Balançoire in the Mission District. Evan Kaminsky (Attended, ’95 – ’98) plays Shanghai Kelly, a notorious 19th-century crimp, and Stephanie Rapa (Attended, ’95 –’99) plays socialite and philanthropist Alma De Bretteville. The production runs through September 24.
Set to parodies of Bay Area hits from the ’80s to now, singing along is encouraged. “This ramshackle, plucky troupe finds its own place in the true history of San Francisco: that of the eccentrics and hams who follow their bliss and make this city great,” SF Weekly writes.
