Alumni Jon Retsky, Russell Holt Brighten San Francisco's Social Scene

SAN FRANCISCO BUSINESS TIMES -- Retsky and Holt, who both hold the titles of owner and lead designer, graduated from San Francisco State University in 2000. Retsky studied theatre and lighting design; Holt studied cinema production and fine arts. The one-time couple wanted to merge the then-disparate fields of art and event lighting. “Got Light takes a very artistic approach to event design and production,” Retsky said. “And to this day, frankly, I don’t think anyone else does. That’s what gives us the edge.” The company lights about 1,000 events a year from backyard weddings to large galas to lavish tech parties. The company has hired five employees this year and surpassed first- and second-quarter targets.
