Elaine Kahn and Trisha Low: Reading and in Conversation

Elaine Kahn

Elaine Kahn was born in Evanston, Illinois, and is the author of the poetry collection Women in Public (City Lights, 2015) as well as several chapbooks, most recently A Voluptuous Dream During an Eclipse (Poor Claudia) and Customer (Ecstatic Peace Library). She earned a Master of Fine Arts from the Iowa Writers' Workshop and a Bachelor of Arts from California College of the Arts. Kahn is the managing editor of Flowers and Cream, an independent publisher of limited-edition poetry books, and a founding member of the P.Splash Collective. She has musical releases with Ecstatic Peace, Night People and Hot Releases. Recent writing has appeared in It's Night in San Francisco but it's Sunny in Oakland, The Poetry Project Newsletter and Art Papers. She lives in Oakland.

Trisha Low

Trisha Low is the author of The Compleat Purge (2013), and her work was featured in the anthology Against Expression: An Anthology of Conceptual Writing (2011). In The Compleat Purge, Low engages narrative and documentary structures to explore the impact of fantasy on perception, in particular the perception of feminine identity. In a 2013 Vol. 1 Brooklyn Review, Tobias Carroll described The Compleat Purge as “a hybrid in the best sense of the word, bridging styles to get at something deeper; volleying out a series of cloaks to get at something much more essential.” Low earned a Bachelor of Arts at University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Arts at New York University. She lives in the East Bay.
