SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE -- You may think you’ve heard all the standard chamber configurations. Think again. The Dutch quintet Calefax has come up something new: a mixed ensemble of reed instruments that creates new sonorities and textures in familiar music. The lineup consists of oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bass clarinet and bassoon. In other words, an innovative wrinkle on the traditional woodwind quintet. Calefax: 3pm. Sunday, April 17. Free. McKenna Theatre, San Francisco State University.
