POLITICO/CAPITAL NEW YORK -- Vargas' name is on one of the amicus briefs urging the court to allow the executive actions to stand. “I’m thinking of my teachers in Mt. View High School, my colleagues at the [San Francisco] Chronicle and the Washington Post who have mentored me,’’ said Vargas, who was born in the Philippines and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he graduated from San Francisco State and later worked at the Chronicle. “So it’s not just me and my name that at stake, it’s all of these people. It’s millions of us.”
