TIMES-STANDARD (EUREKA) -- Regli was born in North Dakota, grew up in Idaho and moved to Northern California, where she studied at Humboldt State University and San Francisco State University. She was interested in art as a child, but not satisfied with the horses and people she tried to represent. Her experience at College of the Redwoods, studying with some the area’s finest artists and teachers — Floyd Bettiga, Jim Moore, Bob Benson, Jeannette Ford and Jim Faber — changed all of that for Regli. She now works mainly in oils, although sometimes pastels and acrylics are added to her repertoire. She concentrates on landscapes and the various effects worked upon them by seasons and weather. She particularly loves the Eel River Valley and the old-fashioned lifestyle of family farms, having lived on a dairy farm in Ferndale since 1960. “In my art,” she said, “I try to capture a sense that others may recognize of my feelings for this area.”
