SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE -- Student Darian Costa wrote this op-ed piece about his feelings in the aftermath of the presidential election.
“I’m the first person in my family to go to college, an average state school I can barely afford, but I’ve been promised that if I graduate I will have opportunities my mom and dad have not enjoyed. Now I’m wondering if my girlfriend and I will have an economy to call home, when we graduate toward the end of Donald Trump’s first term.
“Will I become an angry, bitter, entitled bore who blames everyone who seems different than me for my situation?
“Will I become them?”
Costa is a Journalism student at San Francisco State University.
