Shine Louise Houston
Houston’s signature cinematic style is best known for its honest and charismatic depictions of queer desire. In 2015, she received San Francisco’s Harvey Milk Sylvester Pride in the Arts Award for her work’s portrayal of healthy, diverse sexuality and most notably seen in CrashPadSeries.com and its cast of queer and trans performers, people of color and varying bodies and abilities. For more than a decade, her films have screened across the world, spanning Frameline and Outfest to Wonderlust Helsinki and the Tate Modern London, as well as HBO and Amazon. Her films have also been presented at academic institutions such as Princeton University and the American Studies Association Conference.

The School of Cinema’s spring screening and master-class series “HerProcess: Women Filmmakers from Script to Screen” showcases three innovative women who have changed filmmaking from in front of and behind the lens. It features public screenings of their groundbreaking films and private master classes with students.
