Cancer is a Tumultuous Journey: A Cross-linguistic Analysis of Metaphor
Wednesday, October 25, 2017, 3:00 pm

Learn about the metaphors we use to talk and think about cancer. This talk, presented by expert metaphor researcher Oana David, a Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow at University of California, Merced, will focus on how cognition and grammar come together to shape our understanding of cancer as both a war and journey. Each model constructs the role of patient, practitioner and caregiver differently. Free.
