David Gropman discusses his training and preparation that led to his impressive achievements and distinctive career. In addition to designing three films for Robert Altman, he has enjoyed numerous collaborations with the directors Lasse Hallström, Robert Benton, Steven Zaillian, Gary Sinise, James Ivory, Ang Lee and John Wells. Gropman (B.A., '74) was an Academy Award nominee for Best Art Direction, shared with set decorator Beth Rubino, for his work on Lasse Hallström's The Cider House Rules. Free.
