Laura Ruberto’s research focuses on Italian and Italian American transnational and diasporic experiences through film, material culture, oral histories and vernacular culture. She is the author of Gramsci, Migration and the Representation of Women’s Work in Italy and the U.S. and the co-editor of Bakhtin and the Nation, Italian Neorealism and Global Cinema, Italian Americans and Television and the two-volume New Italian Migrations to the United States. Her forthcoming work includes a co-edited special issue of California Italian Studies on the theme of “Borderless Italy.”
Ruberto received her master’s degree from SF State and her Ph.D. from University of California, San Diego.
