VENTURA COUNTY STAR -- Davis went on to win a Television Academy Foundation student Emmy award for his short film The Sandwich. His Oxnard College TV degree opened the door to San Francisco State’s Cinema school.
In that notoriously pricey city, he shared a two-bedroom apartment with a half dozen roommates. Space was so tight, they subdivided the living room into sleeping quarters.
But with classes and working to afford the rent, he rarely hung out there. He graduated with $12,000 in student debt, less than half the average owed by recent grads.
