The Hebrews, Alone: The Legend of Miriam Yalan-Shtekelis
Wednesday, October 2, 2019, 4:00 pm
In a little Jerusalem apartment, surrounded by dolls and cats, Miriam Yalan-Shtekelis wrote children's songs that have captured Israeli hearts for many generations -- The Doll Named Zehava, The Soap Who Cried a Lot, Michael and many more. Director, photographer, editor, designer and writer Reuven Brodeski created a Russian legend about Yalan-Shtekelis, using miniatures that were created especially for this film, interviewing people who knew her and telling the story of Israel's most important figure in children's music. Discussion with producer and civil-rights activist Yair Qedar to follow. Free.
