KPFA-FM, LETTERS AND POLITICS (BERKELEY) -- Today, Mitch Jeserich talks with Historian Anthony D’Agostino. He is a Professor at San Francisco State University, an expert on the history of Russia and the author of many books including the Russian revolution and “The Rise of Global Powers: International Politics in the Era of World Wars.”
D’Agostino said he thinks that the U.S. has a strategic interest in Ukraine.
“The U.S. probably has an interest in Ukraine as kind of a bridge between Russia and Europe — a bridge between the Russia economic organizations and the European economic organizations,” D’Agostino said. “And also bridge strategically, and you could say, an area in which if peace is achieved, a great deal can be achieved from the standpoint of a general European stability.”
