SF State Dean of Equity Initiatives Christina Sabee was recently named interim associate dean of the College of Liberal & Creative Arts. She begins her new position this summer.
Sabee, a Communication Studies professor and former department chair, has studied health-care communication and conflict management extensively. In 2010, she won a $480,000 grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to study a mobile app that helps youth struggling with obesity and depression. She also has served as director of the Conflict Resolution certificate program and interim director of the School of Design.
Since joining the Office of Equity Programs and Compliance in 2017, Sabee has served as university ombudsperson, senior deputy Title IX coordinator and discrimination, harassment and retaliation administrator. She often provides training at SF State on effective workplace communication and mediation. Sabee joined SF State in 2007.
“She will bring the highest level of commitment to equity and access for students, faculty and staff in the College, as she has done across the University,” said Andrew Harris, College of Liberal & Creative Arts dean.
Sabee earned her doctorate from Northwestern University, master’s degree from Kansas State University and bachelor’s degree from Macalester College.
Sabee fills the position held by Troi Carleton since 2017.
