SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE -- Jason McDaniel, an associate professor of Political science at San Francisco State University, said San Francisco’s geographic voting patterns can be characterized as a “doughnut or crescent pattern.” The inner core of neighborhoods including the Haight and Western Addition through the Mission and Glen Park tend to vote most consistently with progressive issues and candidates, McDaniel said.
“The pattern broadly held in this election, even though there were very few issues or candidates that divided San Francisco voters on ideological lines,” he said.
