Occupation, Settlements and the Youth Resistance Movement: Hebron and Beyond
The flagship YAS campaign is “Open Shuhada Street.” YAS educates young Palestinians in nonviolent resistance through action, media and advocacy work. Issa meets with and gives tours to diplomats and peace delegations visiting Hebron, and he works with international peace activists.
Issa has been recognized for his human rights work by the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, the European Union and Institute for Middle East Understanding. In 2009 he won the One World media award for his involvement in B’Tselem’s “Shooting Back” video project.
