Overview

Groove into every first Wednesday with LCA Live’s signature series, Jazz and Tacos. Experience jazz performed by some of the best in the local SF Bay Area Jazz scene, alongside delicious tacos provided by Taqueria Girasol – all for free for the SF State Community! Free for students, faculty, and staff.

This week's artist is local group, La Onda.

Atta Kid's mission is to create a musical bridge between the precise chaos of East Bay Funk and the contagious lilt of the sounds of New Orleans. Overview

This month's featured artist is jazz group Huney Knuckles.

Huney Knuckles is a four-piece instrumental powerhouse serving up soulful compositions and jaw dropping improvisations featuring the left-handed keyboard bass wizardry of Kevin Wong & uber-funky pocket of Darian Gray (touring drummer for Booker T Jones for the past 14 years). You can find their latest releases on both Youtube & Spotify under their channel "huneyknuckles" as well as on Instagram.

Top off great music, with great tacos from Taqueria Girasol.

Overview

The "amoeba-like" SLUGish Ensemble returns to the Jazz & Tacos stage after a monumental kick-off performance last season to celebrate the release of their new album!

Celebrate SLUGish Ensemble's new album, In Solitude, with us. In Solitude will be release on September 15th!

Slow & Steady Records announces the release of SLUGish Ensemble’s third recording In Solitude. Led by composer and multi-reedist Steven Lugerner, In Solitude brings the chemistry of the band’s 2022 album, Live At Sam First, under the hood of Oakland’s venerable 25th Street Recording studio, extending the signature SLUGish minimalistic math-jazz to Lugerner’s inspired original compositions. The ensemble again features an enviable cast of emerging young players on the West Coast: keyboardists Javier Santiago and Steve Blum, guitarist Justin Rock, bassist Giulio Xavier Cetto, and drummer Michael Mitchell.

What comes out on the other side is a cathartic body of music that’ll have jazz heads and indie-rockers alike bobbing their heads, always guessing what comes next. In Solitude is a roadmap – of SLUGish Ensemble’s range and slow and steady growth, of an all-too-relatable pandemic experience, and one of San Francisco’s treasured, off-the-beaten path neighborhoods.
