JOURNAL AND COURIER (LAFAYETTE, INDIANA) -- Gilligan, a Purdue graduate and a current assistant professor at San Francisco State University’s Department of English Language and Literature, said he had wanted to be on "Jeopardy!" since he was in college, when he first watched the revival of the show with Trebek as the host.

“I was always a fan of game shows, and I thought it would be fun to be on one,” he said. “Hey, you get to show off what you know and win some money, and what’s so bad about that?”
