We discuss the impact of this technology on our teaching and assessment, the role of writing as a humanistic inquiry, and potential implications beyond academia.

The Program in Visual Impairments, Comic Studies & The Longmore Institute on Disability Present: Innovations in Accessible Comics for blind & low vision readers. A conversation with the prizewinners of the Accessible Comics Collective design competition! The focus of the event will be about reflecting on the process of developing these accessible comics, lessons learned, and opportunities for future innovations. Sarahbeth Maney (class of 2019) also known as SB, is a staff photojournalist at The Detroit Free Press and vice Ppresident of The Michigan Press Photographers Association (MPPA). She previously covered national politics at The New York Times Washington bureau as a 2021–22 photography fellow. In 2022, Maney became the first photographer to receive the National Association of Black Journalists Michael J. Feeney Emerging Journalist of the Year Award.

We're excited to announce a new partnership with Alice Wong / The Disability Visibility Project with additional support from Sandy Ho / The Disability & Intersectionality Summit! This fall we are hosting a series of community conversations with writers and creatives to celebrate Alice Wong’s new memoir, Year of the Tiger. If you've been following Alice's journey lately, then you know why we are more committed than ever to make this series everything Alice dreamed it could be to show her our support!

Starting off the series is Tiger Talks #1: The Form of Memory. The event will feature Stephanie Foo, Esmé Weijun Wang, and Jonny Sun as moderator. ASL/CC will be provided, and we will be giving away books to 20 attendees!
