Welcome to the College of Liberal & Creative Arts (LCA).
Ours is a moment in human history in which understanding and practicing what makes us distinctly human is more important than ever, and that is precisely what we do here in LCA. The creative arts are more than just the production of texts, images, or sounds: they are the artistic expression of who we are and what we value, to be shared with our communities. The social sciences are more than just the compilation of data about the past and present states of the world: they aim at understanding where we come from and what we can be. The humanities are more than just a catalog of literary works: they are a critical engagement with the most important questions that we have asked and the giving and taking of reasons with each other that constitute our answers.
In LCA, faculty and students work together using state-of-the-art tools to make sense, to make art, and to make change. Through engaging in distinctly human disciplines, students hone skills like critical thinking, creativity, and curiosity that make them adaptable and flexible learners, ready to take on the jobs of the future; they become responsible and responsive leaders grounded in their histories and communities; and they cultivate their ethical reasoning, preparing for lifelong global civic engagement.
Whether it is as a lawyer, a diplomat, an editor, a curator, an archivist, a performer, a designer, an artist, an activist, a community organizer, an audio technician, a light engineer, a content creator, a filmmaker, a historian, a game designer, or a teacher, we create access to professional pathways, upward social mobility, and human flourishing for all potential learners, so please come join us in our libraries, galleries, studios, museums, theaters, archives, and labs to understand, to express, and to transform.
