Dr. Resha Cardone brings over two decades of scholarly and administrative expertise to her role as Associate Dean of San Francisco State’s College of Liberal and Creative Arts. As a Professor of Spanish and Women’s and Gender Studies, she is a widely published literary translator and scholar of feminist art activism created under the Pinochet regime and during Chile’s transition from dictatorship to democracy. Since becoming an administrator, her writing agenda centers student achievement, recruitment, retention and assessment within regional comprehensive universities of access. Dr. Cardone’s academic leadership champions the arts, humanities, and social sciences across strategic budgetary and academic planning, faculty and staff success initiatives, curriculum and workforce development, program review and accreditation, public scholarship, and fostering community partnerships and residencies within the Bay Area arts scene. A collaborative leader with a deep commitment to shared governance and the academic mission of the CSU, she draws on training from the Harvard Graduate School Education Management Development Program, the HERS Leadership Institute and the CSU Leadership Academy, among others.

A California native, Dr. Cardone earned a BA at Humboldt State University (Cal Poly Humboldt) and holds an MA and PhD from the University of Kansas.
